Travamigos

CASE STUDY

Travamigos is a group travel app which connects solo travellers to groups of  people heading for the same destination; with the aim of making travel cheaper,  safer and more social than ever before. Despite still being a startup, the platform has partnerships with travel heavyweights Skyscanner and Hostelworld.

Brief

We were approached by the app’s co-founder to run a Paid Social and general PR campaign targeting the app’s ideal demographic: young, fun-loving, travel-focused individuals. The aim was to prove the app’s traction and positioning in the crowded travel space to assist with investment pitches and funding rounds later down the line.

Approach

With the initial aim of the campaign being to test the market, the budget provided by the startup was lean, so required a highly-considered approach to spending. Also, due to the app only just entering into the market, the campaign was going to have to first achieve brand awareness before driving users to convert to app installs.

Our team first identified that to make a return on this campaign, we required aspirational and creative content. This was in contrast to the existing corporate ‘how-to’ video, which was reserved for investor meetings.

After video production (which features adventures users of the app could find themselves on), we reworked the content and produced creative content in-house for social, based on our knowledge of successful past campaigns. The content was then targeted to Travamigos' defined target audience.

Results

Since proving the traction of their app, Travamigos has now successfully closed its latest funding round, which is supporting the business through the next stage of growth.

Distract also provided a 74.78% decrease in Travamigos’ Cost Per Acquisition as well as 80% more downloads for their ad spend. We also generated more than 2,000 downloads of the app for the ad spend within two months.
